Underwater

Been a good while since I last posted. Been enjoying my summer so far, only a couple weeks left. These are pictures from a couple of underwater sessions with the Herrin Tigersharks Swim Team. I used a Canon 1d MkII with an on-camera flash in a ewa-marine underwater housing. It was a lot of trial […]

Spring Sports Update

Well, I’ve been quite busy lately with the school semester and spring sports in full swing. The Carterville softball team had a big win the past week beating rival Johnston City for the first time in over 10 years. The track team continues to perform well and the inexperienced baseball team continues to lose.

Another Day, Another Play

In the midst of some busy mid-semester days I photographed another play rehearsal last night. Actually it was a musical, “Hello Dolly.” This first is a set of twins that I used to go to church with. I remember them being little rascals back in the day. Anyway, I was wondering around backstage as usual […]

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

I saw something today that I have never seen in all my 21 years. As I was walking to the baseball field this afternoon I noticed that the sky was spitting snow, on March 24. I’ve seen a lot of crazy things at baseball games, but never snow in Southern Illinois in late March.Needless to […]

Sorry, it’s been awhile

Been two weeks since my last post. If anyone checks this regularly I apologize for the long absence. I’ve been busy, however it has been with school and sports. I keep getting more and more restrictions at prep games. Getting a good second base slide is even tough from where they have me positioned.Anyway, here […]

MORP, or Prom backwards

Two weeks ago, when the temperature was five degrees, there was to be a dance at Herrin high called MORP. Well, needless to say the cold temperatures caused the dance organizers to reschedule.I went into this assignment with very little knowledge about the dance itself. I try to be very prompt on time, however, I […]

5th and 6th Grade Hoops

In prep sports, we are a currently in between the winter and spring season. For me, this means putting an emphasis on other sports. Like jr. high volleyball for example, or as in today’s case, 5th and 6th grade basketball. The teams were large in size and the young boys put their hearts into it. […]

A Soldier’s Return Home

In December of 2004 and the first week in January of 2005 I followed Seth Clark and his family as they all prepared for his deployment to Iraq. Seth is in the National Guard and joined while in high school with thoughts of it paying for college, not going to war. Seth and his family […]

Walk Around Day

Well, I didn’t get much accomplished today. Which is sad, because it was the most beautiful day we’ve had this year. I basically walked around town today for about 2 hours and found nothing to shoot. In the midst of my walk around I looked up at the sky and saw and airplane and a […]

Dads and Daughters

I arrived at the Daddy-Daughter Dance last night right on time. I was hoping to capture a good moment between daddy and daughter as the entered the dance. After making a few frames as the couples waited in line, I took a quick glance at my LCD screen on the back of my camera. To […]

One and Done

The Carterville Lions varsity basketball team went into the regional championship game on Friday night with a good chance of winning. Their opponent, regional host Murphysboro, is a bigger and more athletic team, however, they do not play very consistent. The Lions were always in the game, however they usually trailed by at least 8 […]

Carterville Walks Away With Win

The Lions’ controlled most of their regional semifinal game against Zeigler-Royalton last, however ZR made quite a push within the last few minutes of the fourth quarter. It was a two point game with less than a minute to go. But, Carterville’s Nathan Wachter came up with a steal and was intentionally fouled while shooting […]

End of the Road

Coming into this evening’s regional semifinal game, the Herrin Tigers had only recorded three wins on the season. The were a very high seed in the tournament and would face off with the number one seed and host Murphysboro Red Devils. Herrin jumped out to a quick lead in the first quarter and were able […]
